Unexpected “Ripple Effect” Impact Our Children

Sometimes, the most unexpected events can have a ripple effect, impacting lives thousands of miles away. I want to share a story that highlights this interconnectedness, and how your support can make a real difference

Here’s what happened:

• A Delayed Grant: In January, we received wonderful news: a generous charity granted us funds to cover vital school expenses for our children in Kenya. We anticipated these funds in early February. However, due to a sudden bereavement within the granting charity, the funds were delayed, only being cleared by our bank yesterday.

• A Global Ripple: Simultaneously, the recent tensions between the U.S. and Ukraine significantly impacted global exchange rates. As a result, when we finally sent the funds to Kenya yesterday, the unfavourable exchange rate meant we incurred an unexpected £500 loss.

The Impact:
Our children in Kenya needed their school fees, uniforms, and supplies. We couldn’t delay. So, we sent the money, but this £500 shortfall had to be covered from funds earmarked for essential needs at Home of Peace this weekend for food, wages, and daily care.

We send for these essentials on the 8th and 22nd of every month.
