This is not our normal newsletter but a very specific request to pray for one of the children at Home of Peace Children’s Home.
We believe in being transparent and keeping you informed about significant updates and events.
Without knowing what is happening there is no way that you can pray meaningfully for the work.
Daniel is almost 14 years old and in his last year at Junior School combining standard 7 & 8 in one year before going to secondary school next year and he was referred to a local hospital by our new nurse who is our Health Dept Manager.
The hospital suspected cancer and had him transferred 150 miles away to a specialist hospital oncology dept. They strongly suspect Esophageal cancer, (also known as Oesophageal cancer)
They are carrying out tests including full hemogram, kidney function tests, liver function tests, cervical CT scan and general assessment followed on Thursday by a large tissue biopsy. The results will be available in 2 weeks.

As is normal in Kenya we have had to send a member of staff to be available when Daniel needs him during the day, as the staff get very busy. We sent Ben as he is our assistant health dept manage.
Please pray for Daniel.
Pray also for the medical costs as the Kenyan Government is changing their national health insurance scheme and replacing it with a new programme. With typical government ‘efficiency’ they stopped the old scheme, but the new programme is not (yet) able to insure children in a children’s home. Apparently, that was an oversight, and they are working to get it rectified.
We therefore have no way of knowing what medical expenses for Daniel will be covered by the health insurance. So far the private ambulance to take him 150 miles to the new hospital cost us £200. God wonderfully supplied this as a gift from a prayer partner who got Daniel’s details from one of our Trustees. We have had to spend almost as much again sorting out food and accommodation for Ben who is with Daniel. We managed to rent a room near the hospital for him. We have rented this for 2 weeks, but we do not know how much longer it may be needed. We do not know what else we may need to pay for.
Please pray for God’s provision. If God moves you to contribute towards these expenses to save a child’s life that would be wonderful. But while we naturally need funds, we need prayer because only God can provide everything that is needed, only God can give us the wisdom we need to handle everything and only God can protect us from the attacks of the enemy. God knows who He will use to provide the needs and He blesses those who listen to and obey His prompting.
In the past we have had a couple of emails from sponsors complaining that we always make financial appeals in our newsletters. We always ask everyone to pray but please do not give because you feel pressured by this email. If you give it should be because God has prompted you and given as a gift to Him Remember the bible says 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV) – Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

God bless you
